The ultimate guide to fixing your stove when it won’t heat

A stove that won’t heat is a big problem in any household. The engine that keeps you going and fed just won’t turn on. What can you do to fix your stove? Well, before you call in a professional for repairs, there are a few things you can try for yourself.

Step 1: Start with the Power Supply

The first thing you should do if your stove won’t heat up is to check the power supply. Make sure the appliance is plugged in correctly, and that the outlet is working. If you’re not sure, try plugging something else into the same outlet to see if it works.

If the stove is plugged in and the outlet is working, check the circuit breaker to make sure it hasn’t tripped. If it has, reset it and try turning on the stove again.

Tip: One of the best ways to avoid this issue is to have your kitchen installed by professionals

Step 2: Then test your burners

If the power supply is not the issue, the next thing to check is the burner. Turn on one of the burners and see if it heats up. If it does, the problem is likely with the other burners or the oven.

If none of the burners heat up, the problem may be with the burner itself. Check to see if the burner is properly connected and seated in its socket. If it’s loose or disconnected, reattach it and try again.

If the burner is properly connected but still won’t heat up, you may need to replace it. Burners can wear out over time and need to be replaced periodically.

Step 3: Check your stove igniter

If the burners are working properly but the oven won’t heat up, the problem may be with the igniter. The igniter is the part of the stove that creates the spark that lights the gas in the oven.

To test the igniter, turn on the oven and observe the igniter. If it glows bright orange, it’s working properly. If it doesn’t glow at all, it may need to be replaced.

Step 4: Clean the Burners and Igniter

If the igniter is working properly but the oven won’t heat up, the problem may be the burners or igniter being dirty. Over time, food particles and debris can accumulate on the burners and igniter, preventing them from working properly.

To clean the burners and igniter, turn off the stove and remove the grates and burner caps. Use a soft brush or cloth to clean the burners and igniter. Be careful not to damage the igniter or any other stove parts.

Step 5: Check the Gas Supply

If your stove runs on gas, another potential problem could be a lack of gas supply. Check if the gas valve is open and the gas line is properly connected. If the gas valve is closed or the gas line is disconnected, turn off the stove and open the gas valve or reconnect the gas line.
